Horse Racing Tipsters

Finding Racing Tipsters
That You Can Trust
Why is it
that some racing tipsters can predict a winning horse in a race better
than most punters? Well, believe it or not most racing tipsters start out
the same as any other punter really, as they may be just as interested,
fascinated and frustrated in trying to pick a winner as you are.
What eventually separates them from the normal punter is experience and
knowledge that they will have gained from years of watching, studying and
generally being interested in horse racing.
My horse racing education started with lots of reading, listening to other
experts and attending lots of live racing. So I have a good idea what it
takes to become a reliable, knowledgeable horse racing tipster, but how do
you, the punter separate the experienced and therefore more reliable ones,
from the not so experienced and not so reliable ones.
In simple terms, using a horse racing tipster or expert, means that you're
using their experience and qualities of being able to identify horses that
can't win and horses that could win. Not many people know that in most
races there are definitely horses that have no chance of winning, so this
is an important fact to know.
In a recent interview, I spoke to one of the most famous and respected
horse racing experts in the industry, although I will not name names for
obvious reasons. He is considered one of the top people in his
professional and appears on both television and radio.
Assessing A Tipsters Credentials
He revealed to me during our interview that he became interested in horse
racing from a very young age, and that he used to go to lots of meetings
with his best friend who was also knee high to a grasshopper.
Watching live racing and being around horses, the jockeys and the trainers
got him instantly hooked, and that's how he got into this business.
As you'll know from some of my previous writings, there is no one on this
earth that can guarantee you a winner, but if you can find a reliable
tipster then you can certainly increase your chances of picking winners.
So the key is how do you find the reliable ones? I'll now explain some of
things to watch out for.
Finding Reliable Racing Tipsters
The first step you want to take is to contact the tipster. I know this
sounds a bit basic but it is a very good way of finding out about them and
is an effective way to start forming an opinion of them.
Send them a few emails to start with and see how they respond. You should
subtly ask about their background, their successes and their failures.
Attempt to find out how long have they been providing racing tips to
punters and how they first got into horse racing. They may specialise in
just National Hunt racing, or just flat racing. Some tipsters like myself
specialise in both, so try and find out where their expertise lies.
Anyone who claims they've never had failures and losing months can be
eliminated from your list straightaway, as can the tipsters who claim to
be able to make you rich overnight with a strike rate of 95 per cent.
These facts are simply not true and unfortunately it is tipsters like this
that give the rest of us a bad name.
Ok, rant
over :o).
Most reputable services will charge a subscription or one off fee for
their services, so ask them if they can offer you a free trial of their
service. If they're genuine and keen to increase their membership and
their reputation, they should be willing to give you a trial.
Once again, anyone who comes across as reluctant to do so, or evasive,
avoiding particular questions should be avoided. Furthermore, you are
certain to start forming an opinion of them over time and your gut
instinct may well tell you that they are not to be trusted.
Do First Impressions Count?
Interesting question this one. You can never be 100 per cent certain that
you've made the right choice, until you've made it if that makes sense.
The main thing is, if you've secured a free trial, then at least you're
not throwing money away to find out that the service is no good.
As you ask more questions you will begin to form a little relationship
with the tipster, and this will enable you to think whether or not you
feel he is right for you.
I would liken the whole process to buying a car. You know what you want
the end result to be, so for example it would be own a car, (or in this
case, find a reliable tipster and achieve some winners). The key factor is
the person that is 'selling' you the car (or in this case the racing
tips). If you develop a good rapport with him and you feel that you can
trust him, then you might want to buy, however if you do not trust him or
you're unsure, then walk away for the time being.
